Thoughts After A Funeral
This summer I have been to two funerals. A lot of people have died this past year-many in the news. Over the years I have been to non-believer’s funerals and believer’s funerals. What a huge difference-hope vs. hopeless, eternal life vs. eternal death, joy vs. sorrow, heaven vs. hell. Life can be so busy at times-we let it get that way-but when it all boils down to what matters most, it comes to ONE thing. Do I know Christ? Life apart from Jesus is nothing-it means nothing and is useless. We were created to live for and worship God. Sin destroyed that-our sin, my sin. By God’s grace there is hope. The cross is my hope-Jesus Christ who died for me is my hope. Funerals have a wonderful way of bringing you to the reality man tries to forget, the reality of death. We all will die. We may not know when or how but know in our hearts it will happen. Examine your heart, constantly, and pray for God’s mercy to help you see the Truth. He is the ONE reason we are alive and can live forever. As believers, what a great hope we have in Christ and heaven!
