Visit to Colorado – Part 1

There will be plenty of pictures coming, but last night we had Hailey & Maddie get together to play & they had a BLAST together on their toy airplanes.  Here is a video of it:

Maddie being cute

So the other day Maddie was talking to Mommy & asked her “Mommy, why did Mr Mountain steal from the people?”  Obviously Summer was a little confused as to what she was talking about, so she had to think about it.  After much thinking, she remembered that we had just shown Maddie the classic movie, The Music Man – in which professor Harold Hill bamboozles the folks of River City Ioway.  It is amazing how Maddie picks up on things that we don’t even explain to her – of course, by Mr Mountain she meant Mr Hill.  So cute!  (at least to us)

From the mouth of a three year old….

This story may be one of those stories that you have to be there to really understand – however, the four of us that were there thought it was funny enough, so I will pass it along.

Because today was such a beautiful day, our family decided to go on a picnic with the Armstrongs to a local community park in Valencia.  We set up our blankets & enjoyed some nice sandwiches & dessert followed by Maddie romping all around & wearing everyone out.  Towards the end of our time there, a large group of teenagers showed up in their prom apparel for pictures.  Among them were about 5-6 girls that were quite inappropriately dressed.  Maddie, being obsessed with dress-up immediately started to watch them & say hi to them etc.  As the group started to walk to another picture place, Maddie stood up, held out her hand to one of the guys in the group & said (in her innocent voice), “Excuse me….can you tell me why these ladies are not dressed modest?”  NO JOKE!  This was right in front of all the ladies.  The guy, quite staggered, asked her to repeat herself, so she did.  “Why are they not dressed modest?”.  There was a lot of nervous laughter from the girls as they quickly waddled away.  The four of us looked at each other (while Summer & I turned bright red) & then just had to laugh out loud.  Then Maddie continued to look at them saying how they were not modest.  It’s one of those things that you want to stop your kid, but at the same time are so stinkin’ proud of her!

To add even more cuteness to it, when we got home from the park, Summer put Maddie down for her nap & before she would go to sleep, Maddie asked to pray for the girls.  She said that she would pray for the girl in the yellow dress & Mommy could pray for the girl in the purple dress.  So precious! (of course she would notice & remember the dress colors!)

Sticker Monster and Maddie’s Fantasy World

I got attacked by the sticker monster this past week-pretty scary stuff! =) Recovery went well though.

My sweet princess has gotten so big! Even though she’s only 3, I feel like this is her kindergarten shot! =)

So Maddie has this ballerina outfit and shoes that she had from when she was much younger. They hang now on her bedroom wall as a decoration. Maddie just doesn’t understand that they don’t fit anymore and asks constantly to wear them. I took this picture of her holding them and she just lit up as she held them…as if a reunion was taking place…

Where does the time go???

Maddie’s newest thing to be entertained by is having people tell her stories. She loves to just sit and listen and enter the fantasy world she dreams of. It can be the silliest (most of mine are) story imaginable, she doesn’t mind… How precious this stage of her life and development is! I love it! =) Here’s a picture that sums up Maddie in her little “fantasy world”.

As for the little man in our life-he is working through his very first cold. Poor thing! He’s such a cutie though-even when he’s sick.
